DIN 51727
Testing of solid fuels - Determination of chlorine content
Prüfung fester Brennstoffe - Bestimmung des Chlorgehaltes
Overview
The standard describes a method for determining the chlorine content in solid fuels. Solid fuels in terms of this standard are standard fuels such as hard coals, hard coal briquettes, hard coal coke, brown coals, brown coal briquettes and brown coal coke and other solid fuels such as slurry coal, low-grade coal and refuse, charcoal, charcoal briquettes, wood pellets, solid biofuels and solid recovered fuels. The method is suitable for determination of the mass fraction of chlorine of more than 0,005 %. Two digestion methods which are suitable to bring the chlorine bonded in the fuel into solution are given in this standard. The chlorine content in the digestion solution can be determined using various methods, for example, by ion selective electrodes, coulometry, photometry and ion chromatography. An ion chromatographic separation of the constituents of the digestion solution and the conductivity detection as end-point determination are described in this standard. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-12-02 AA "Prüfung fester Brennstoffe" ("Testing Solid Fuels") at the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG).
