Testing of solid fuels - Determination of chemical composition of fuel ash - Part 10: X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis
Prüfung fester Brennstoffe - Bestimmung der chemischen Zusammensetzung von Brennstoffasche - Teil 10: Röntgenfluoreszenz-Analyse (RFA)
Overview
The standard specifies the conditions for determination of aluminium, barium, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, manganese, sodium, phosphorus, sulphur, silicon, strontium and titanium content by means of X-ray fluorescence analysis (RFA) in ashes of hard coal, hard coal coke and brown coal. The method is also suitable for examination of other substances, for example - inorganic residues of solid fuels generated in technological processes, such as slags, bottom ash, fly ash; - ashes from substitute fuels, such as waste water sludges, animal flour and high calorific fractions from sorting plants and - other oxidic and siliceous substances whereby in these cases, the sample preparation and the selection of calibration samples have to be modified, where appropriate. Precision data from a round-robin test which has been organized by Working Committee NA 008-12-02 AA "Prüfung fester Brennstoffe" ("Testing Solid Fuels") of FABERG have been incorporated. 8 laboratories examined a total of 5 samples (ashes of brown coals from the Rhineland and Central Germany and hard coal from Germany and foreign countries). The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-12-02 AA "Prüfung fester Brennstoffe" ("Testing Solid Fuels") of FABERG.
