Abstract
This document specifies a method for determining the colour fastness to saliva of all kinds of leathers, independent of the colouring procedure applied. The method uses an artificial saliva solution to simulate whether colouring materials can migrate from leather to the mouth or to the mucous membranes. This document has been prepared by the Technical Committee "International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies" (IULTCS) in cooperation with Technical Committee CEN/TC 289 "Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI. This document is based on IUF 427. The responsible German standardization body is the working committee NA 062-05-51 AA "Requirements and physical test methods for leather and its starting products" in the DIN Standards Committee for Materials Testing (NMP).
