Overview

The DIN EN 6059 series of standards describes test methods for protective sleeves for installation with electrical cables in aircraft. The standard DIN EN 6059-304 specifies methods for determining the flammability characteristics of protective sleeves, including heat shrink dual wall sleeves, for electric cable and cable bundles. It shall be used together with EN 6059-100. These tests are designed to satisfy the requirements in JAR-25 Section 1, Part 1, Appendix F. There are two methods included in this standard: Method 1 - Applicable for textile fabric sleeves. Method 2 - Applicable non-textile sleeves for use on electrical/ optical cables and harness components. The EN 6059 series of standards has been prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Aerospace Standards Committee. AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the aerospace sector. The responsible German standardization body is Working Committee NA 131-04-08 AA "Installationskomponenten" ("Installation components") at the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
