Overview
The DIN EN 6049 series of standards describes protective sleeve made of meta-aramid fibres for installation with electrical cables and cable bundles in aircraft. Part 009 specifies the characteristics of post installation flexible self-wrapping fire protection sleeves for electrical cable and cable bundles, providing 360° fire protection to electrical harnesses. The sleeve assembly gives fire resistance protection to the internal electrical harness against fire for five minutes, and ensures that the electrical characteristics of cables will not be degraded. The standards of the EN 6049 series are prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization body is Working Committee NA 131-04-08 AA "Installationskomponenten" ("Installation components") at the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
