Overview
The EN 4641 series of standards describes various optical cables (optical fibre) with an outer diameter of the fibre cladding of 125 µm for aerospace applications. Part 101 specifies the general characteristics, conditions for qualification, acceptance and quality assurance for a fibre optic cable with a 62,5/125 µm Graded Index fibre core, 0,9 mm outside diameter and of tight buffer construction, for inside wiring applications. The standards of the EN 4641 series are prepared by ASD-STAN, Department of Electrical Engineering, with the collaboration of German experts from the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the aerospace sector. The responsible German standardization body is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("Fibre optic cables and components") of the Standards Committee Aerospace at DIN.
