Overview
The DIN EN 3645 standard series describes the characteristics of electrical circular connectors, scoop-proof, triple start threaded coupling for aerospace applications for operating temperatures of up to 175 °C or 200 °C continuous. This new edition of Part 008 specifies the characteristics of plugs with grounding rings in the family of circular, electrical connectors, with triple start threaded coupling. It applies to the models W, J, K, F, M and Z listed in Table 2. For contacts, sealing plugs and cable outlet accessories associated with this plug see EN 3645-002. For receptacles and protective covers, see EN 3645-003, EN 3645-004, EN 3645-005, EN 3645-007, EN 3645-009 and EN 3645-010 respectively. These connectors are derived from and interchangeable with models W, J, K, F, M and Z in specification MIL-DTL-38999/26. The following changes have been made with respect to the previous edition DIN EN 3645-008:2009-05: a) the dimension given in Figure 2 for the shell length has been changed; b) in Table 1 model Z has been added to the masses and the value given for the mass of model K, shell size 25 has been changed; c) in the description block in Clause 5 the word protective cover has been deleted, the shell code has been amended by a reference to EN 3645-002 and additional letters were introduced to indicate variants for grounded or not grounded cavities; d) in Table 2, model Z made from a zinc-nickel plated aluminium alloy has been added. The standards of the EN 3645 series are prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrical Engineering, with the participation with of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. ASD became the associated body (ASB) of CEN by the agreement dated 1986-10-03. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Connector") at the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
