Overview
The standard series DIN EN 4531 describes the characteristics of single and multipin optical circular connectors, coupled by triple start threaded ring and flush contacts for aerospace applications. The new edition of Part 101 defines the performance and dimensions of optical PC profiled contacts for 62,5 µm/125 µm fibre and (1,8 ± 0,1) mm diameter cable EN 4641-100. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 4531-101:2008-02: a) incorporation of TR 4646 into the normative references; b) revision of Figure 1 with an extended dimensioning for the termini dimensions, the tolerances have been decreased in Table 1; c) subdivision of clause 4 into the subclauses 4.1 "Contact dimension", 4.2 "Boot dimension" and 4.3 "Contact cavity description"; d) revision of Figure 2 and incorporation of Figure 3 and Figure 4 in 4.2 with the illustration of a long and short version of a boot as well as Figure 5 in 4.3; e) incorporation of clause 5 "Material"; f) revision of the indicated tests according to EN 2591 in Table 4; g) the previous clause 9 "Assembly instructions" has been deleted, clause10 "Termination instructions" with reference to TR 4646 has been incorporated instead; h) the identification block in clause 10 "Designation" has been expanded by two digits for the flange material and the boot designation. The standard series EN 4531 has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. ASD became the associated body (ASB) of CEN by the agreement dated 1986-10-03. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("LWL and LWL-components") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
