Overview

The EN 4612 standard series describes requirements for single and multicore assembly electrical cables of the XLETFE family, jacketed or screened and jacketed, for general purposes in on-board systems of aircraft. Part 002 specifies the list of the product standards and common characteristics of electrical cables for use in the on-board electrical systems of aircraft operating at temperatures between -65 °C and 150 °C and at voltages not exceeding 600 V (rms) and frequencies not exceeding 2 000 Hz (unless otherwise specified in product standards). The standards of the EN 4612 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
