Overview
The EN 4645 standard series describes circular optical connectors, single and multipin, coupled by threaded ring, self-locking 1,25 mm diameter ferrule with removable alignment sleeve holder, for aerospace applications. The connectors with shell sizes 11 and 13 are 100 % scoop proof. The optical contacts are capable of accepting single cable sizes up to a maximum of 2 mm outside diameter. This family of fibre optic connectors is derived from MIL-DTL-38999, series III, and EN 3645-001. It is suitable for use on aerospace onboard applications. Part 002 defines the performance and contact arrangements of circular optical connectors, coupled by triple start threaded ring. The standards of the EN 4645 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("LWL and LWL-components") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
