Test charts for micrography - Part 2: Fundamental assembly of typographical characters for legibility tests and test chart for destination of resolving power
Testvorlagen für die Mikrographie - Teil 2: Testfelder zum Prüfen der Lesbarkeit und Messung des Auflösungsvermögens
Overview
DIN 19051-2 is applicable for 2 test fields compiled from ISO Test Characters and used for quality assessments in microfilm technology. Test Character No. 1 used in Test Chart No. 1 is, according to ISO 446:2004, a typographically comparable character and serves for subjective testing (visual evaluation) of legibility. Test Character No. 2 used in Test Chart No. 2 possesses a metrologically evaluable set-up and serves in accordance with ISO 3334:2006 for objective testing (metrological evaluation) of legibility. Supplement 1 to DIN 19051-2 describes a test chart consisting of 20 test fields in accordance with DIN 19051-2. This test chart's individual test fields serve together with two neutral density cards in accordance with DIN 19051-3 Supplement 1 for set-up of a test array (test table) for testing the original negatives when microfilming technical drawings in accordance with DIN 19051-3. Supplement 2 to DIN 19051-2 describes two test charts consisting of 20 test fields in accordance with DIN 19051-2. The test chart serves for testing the legibility for (microfilm) rotary cameras. Line assemblies (line width of the dark or light lines is approximately 1 mm) can be found between the individual test fields. With this the synchronous running of template and microfilm in relation to the scale of reproduction of the recording VA (in technical terms also the reduction ratio) can be checked. The document has been prepared by Working Group NA 009-00-14-01 AK "NABD/NVBF Arbeitskreis DIN 19051" ("NABD/NVBF Working group DIN 19051") which includes experts of Working Committee NA 009-00-14 AA "Bestandserhaltung in Archiven und Bibliotheken" ("Preservation for archives and libraries") and Working Committee NA 149-00-01 AA "Fotografische Medien" ("Photographic media").
