Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Ergiebigkeit von Farbpatronen für Farbtintenstrahldrucker und multifunktionale Geräte, die Druckerkomponenten enthalten (ISO/IEC 24711:2007 + Cor. 1:2012)
Overview
This standard contains the German translation of the second edition of the International Standard ISO/IEC 24711:2007-12. The purpose of this standard is to identify the ink cartridge yield for colour inkjet printers and multi-function devices that contain printer components. It describes a process for determining the ink cartridge yield for a given colour inkjet printer model (that is ink cartridges with integrated printheads and ink cartridges without integrated printheads) using a set of standard consumer type test pages. These test pages are part of DIN ISO/IEC 24712 (ISO/IEC 24712:2007-12). The set of test pages is not focused on printing of photographs, but is intended to be a sampling of typical business consumer pages. Ink cartridge yields determined on one printer model and cartridge configuration are not applicable to another printer model or cartridge configuration even if the ink jet cartridges used in testing are the same. This document specifies the following: the test method that manufacturers, test laboratories, etcetera, use to determine ink cartridge yield; the method for determination of declared yield values from test results; and the appropriate method of describing the yield of cartridges in documentation supplied to the consumer by the manufacturer. The cartridge yield is determined/signalled by an end of life judgement or fade, caused by depletion of ink in the cartridge, or automatic printing stop, caused by an ink out detection function. It is intended that one of the uses of this document will be for the calculation of cost per page (CPP). While this document measures a portion of this cost, it is not used as the sole component of cost per page (CCP) calculation. Additional factors are considered for CCP calculations. The result of the CCP calculation can help consumers when making a purchase decision regarding consumables and shall be documented in the test report. The test report shall be made available if requested. This document does not apply for consumables of printers whose minimum printable size is equal to or greater than A3. It can be used for the measurement of the yield of every ink cartridge when printing on test pages. Printer systems which only print photos are not covered by this standard. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 043-01-28 AA "Bürogeräte" ("Office equipment") at DIN.
