JTC 1/SC40 establishes an advisory group with the purpose to ensure strategic alignment of the work program and make recommendations to JTC 1/SC 40 on;

  • Review and incorporation of new work in WG and SC 40 Business Plans
  • Allocation of new work within SC 40
  • The balance of the work program across the WGs within SC 40
  • Cross-WG issues
  • Other matters as appropriate

And to investigate the need for and the feasibility of standardisation or guidance in new areas within the scope of SC 40 in order to determine:

  • the importance of proposed new ideas
  • the priority of any proposed new ideas
  • the need for more detailed study of new ideas
  • the preferred direction for future work
  • gaps in the existing work program, including those determined by environmental scans and similar mechanisms >
