Hydraulic balancing of heating, cooling and ventilation systems - Part 3: Procedure for existing heating systems in residential buildings
Abstract
This document describes the procedure and method for performing hydraulic balancing of existing heating, cooling and ventilation systems in existing residential buildings or buildings of similar use. Buildings with similar use are, for example, office buildings, hotels, homes, smaller residential and commercial buildings or small sales areas, equipped with radiators or floor heating. Surface heating systems on walls or ceilings are not explicitly considered, but for their balancing the procedures described below can be applied mutatis mutandis. The scope of application does not include, for example, buildings with ventilation and air-conditioning systems or the thermal supply of production facilities. In principle, the procedure according to Part 1 of this standard applies. Permissible procedures are described specifically for the existing building stock, which are essentially based on the determination of the heating load or consideration of the existing distribution system. In contrast to the construction of a new heating system, the procedure for which is described in Part 2 of the standard, not all the data required for hydraulic balancing are usually available for modernization and repair work on existing heating systems. This applies, for example, to information on the heat transfer coefficients of the building envelope and the installed distribution system, the main components of which are usually not accessible and require an estimate. In order to achieve an acceptable result for the hydraulic balancing of such heating systems with a reasonable amount of effort, the permissible assumptions and estimates are described in detail below in comparison with the procedures specified in Part 1 of the standard.
