Wood preservatives - Determination of preventive action against Reticulitermes species (European termites) (Laboratory method); German version EN 118:2013

Title (German)

Holzschutzmittel - Bestimmung der vorbeugenden Wirkung gegenüber Reticulitermes-Arten (Europäische Termiten) (Laboratoriumsverfahren); Deutsche Fassung EN 118:2013

Overview

This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the preventive action of a wood preservative against European termites (Reticulitermes species) when the preservative is applied as a surface treatment to wood. The method is applicable to water-insoluble chemicals, organic formulations, organic water-dispersible formulations and water-soluble materials, for example salts. This laboratory method provides one criterion by which the value of a product can be assessed. It is further recommended to supplement results from this test by those from other appropriate tests, and above all by comparison with practical experience. With regard to EN 118:2005, the test of specimens treated with a product free of active ingredients has been deleted. Specifications for premature termination of the test have been included and the presentation of the test report has been revised. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-03-06 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 38 und ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten" ("Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 38 and ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Durability of wood and wood-based products") at DIN.
