DIN EN 302-1
Adhesives for load-bearing timber structures - Test methods - Part 1: Determination of longitudinal tensile shear strength; German version EN 302-1:2013

Title (German)

Klebstoffe für tragende Holzbauteile - Prüfverfahren - Teil 1: Bestimmung der Längszugscherfestigkeit; Deutsche Fassung EN 302-1:2013

Overview

This European Standard specifies a method for determining the shear strength of adhesive bonds in close contact glue line and thick glue line. The standard is applicable for assessing the compliance of adhesives with DIN EN 301 and DIN EN 15425 and for assessing the suitability and quality of adhesives for load-bearing timber structures. The test method is intended primarily to obtain performance data for the classification of adhesives for load-bearing timber structures according to their suitability for use in defined climatic environments. The method is not intended to provide data for structural design, and does not necessarily represent the performance of the bonded member in service. With respect to DIN EN 302-1:2004-10 the scope has been rendered more precise, terms and definitions and symbols have been added. Thick glue lines are now prepared with thicknesses between 0,3 mm and 2,0 mm depending on type of adhesive, more detailed instructions are now given on how to prepare thick glue lines. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-04-05 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Holzklebung" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Wood adhesives") at DIN.
