Wood preservation - Part 4: Curative treatment of wood destroying fungi and insects and refurbishment
Holzschutz - Teil 4: Bekämpfungs- und Sanierungsmaßnahmen gegen Holz zerstörende Pilze und Insekten
Overview
This standard specifies measures for curative uses against infection with wood-destroying fungi and insects for obstructed wood and wood-based panels. These measures include treatment of the masonry against dry rot. Obstructed wood in the context of this standard includes both load-bearing and non-load bearing components. The standard applies in connection with DIN 68800-1 to DIN 68800-3. Its application to other fields (such as furniture, installations, art objects and the like) is recommended. Curative treatment against termites and ants are not covered by this standard. This standard does not regulate possibly necessary constructional measures for maintenance or restoration of stability in connection with curative treatment. With respect to DIN 68800-4:1992-11, clause 3 "Terms and definitions" has been included. For the curative treatment a distinction is made between methods for common building rehabilitation and other methods. Asphyxiating gases to combat wood-destroying insects have been incorporated and electrophysical methods against insect infestation have been taken into account as methods outside common building rehabilitation in clause 10. The hot air process for curative uses against dry rot is described as the method outside the common building rehabilitation in Annex E. Specifications for quality assurance are supplemented as clause 13 and examples for permanent designation according to various curative treatments have been incorporated as Annexes A to D. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-03-04 AA "Bekämpfender Holzschutz" ("Curative wood protection") at DIN.
