Laminate floor coverings - Test method for the determination of micro-scratch resistance; German version EN 16094:2012
Laminatböden - Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Mikrokratzbeständigkeit; Deutsche Fassung EN 16094:2012
Overview
This European Standard specifies a test method for the micro-scratch resistance which can be used for all types of laminate floor coverings. For the users of laminate floor coverings, scratch resistance is a particularly important quality criterion for which, however, so far no suitable test method was available. During the test, the laminate floor covering is subjected to a specific pressure and a specified frequency over a defined time in a special so-called "Martindale" abrasion testing apparatus using a scrubbing sponge. Subsequently, the changes of the surface are determined by gloss measurement and visual assessment. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-04-30 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 134/WG 9 und ISO/TC 219/WG 3 Laminatböden" ("Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 134/WG 9 and ISO/TC 219/WG 3 Laminate floor coverings") at DIN.
