Overview

The standard DIN EN ISO 10297 applies for the most common types of valves for gas cylinders and cylinder bundles used to convey compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Regulations. For example, ball valves, non-return valves and quick-release valves, valves for portable fire extinguishers, for cryogenic equipment and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for which own standards apply are excluded. The standard also applies for valves with integrated pressure regulator if the function of closure (and hence the safety during transport) is concerned. Valves in accordance with this standard are applied in large quantities during transport of dangerous goods. During the complete revision of the version from 2006, some ambiguities in the scope have been removed, the technical part (design and tests) has been fundamentally reviewed and the document has been restructured and adjusted to the current terminology. The body responsible for this standard is NA 016-00-03 AA "Druckgasflaschen und Ausrüstung; Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 23 und ISO/TC 58" ("Transportable gas cylinders and equipment; National mirror committee to CEN/TC 23 and ISO/TC 58") at DIN.
