Overview
Amendment of the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) into the EU Construction Products Regulation (305/2011/EU) requires certain formal changes to be taken into account in the harmonised product specifications. This results in consequences for the manufacturers of kitchen sinks. Kitchen sinks are used for preparing food (for preparing meals), washing and rinsing dishes and draining domestic sewage. They can have one or more basins and a draining board and can be integrated into kitchen furniture in various ways. CEN/TC 163 "Sanitary appliances" is aware that due to the new requirements for manufacturers of sanitary equipment resulting from Regulation 305/2011/EU and the non-compliant requirements of the relevant harmonized European standards until now, clear concern and uncertainty had arisen among the players on the market. On the initiative of the German delegation in CEN/TC 163, short-term amendment or revision of all these standards, including EN 13310, was initiated. NA 119-05-18-01 UA "Spültische, Ausgussbecken" ("Dishwashing basins - Sinks") is responsible for the national mirroring of this work.
