Bodenbeschaffenheit - Bestimmung der effektiven Kationenaustauschkapazität und der Basensättigung unter Verwendung von Bariumchloridlösung (ISO 11260:1994+Cor. 1:1996); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 11260:2011
Overview
This International Standard specifies a method for the determination of the cation exchange capacity (CEC) at the pH of the soil and for the determination of the content of exchangeable sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium in soil. The validated method is applicable to all types of air-dried soil samples and is a modification of the method proposed by Gillman. The cation exchange capacity (CEC) is a measure for the exchangeable cations in the soil and depends on both the chemical as well as the mechanical composition of the soil. The cation exchange capacity is an important characteristic value of the soil. The sum of exchangeable cations bonded to the negative binding sites of the exchangers is determined by experiment through the exchange with a neutral salt solution (for example, barium, ammonium and calcium chloride).
