Overview
This European Standard specifies the requirements for pipes, fittings, brackets and the system of unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) intended for use as above-ground external rainwater piping systems. It also specifies the requirements for metallic brackets. It also specifies the requirements for metal pipe clamps. It applies to both solid wall pipes and fittings (that is, products manufactured from a single layer) and multilayer solid wall pipes. Pipes may be used in conjunction with fittings and pipe clamps made of acrylic materials, provided that these polymers meet the serviceability requirements of this standard. It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referenced in this standard. Piping components complying with this standard are normally used with gutters complying with EN 607. They are not intended for use with products complying to EN 612. This standard applies to PVC-U piping systems with sealing ring or adhesive connection (gasketed system) or with push-in connection without sealant (non-gasketed system) for rainwater pipes with circular, square, rectangular or any other cross-section and contains specifications for pipe series for pipes and fittings. This standard differs from DIN EN 12200-1:2001-01 as follows: a) standards for test methods have been updated; b) in Clause 3, terms for multilayer pipes according to CEN ISO/TR 27165 and material terms have been added; c) information on acrylic polymer has been added; d) Annex B "Survey of possible use of reprocessed and recycled material" has been added.
