Laboratory glassware - Boiling flasks with conical ground joints (ISO 4797:2015); German version EN ISO 4797:2015
Laborgeräte aus Glas - Erlenmeyer-, Rund- und Stehkolben mit Kegelschliff (ISO 4797:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 4797:2015
Overview
This International Standard specifies dimensions and requirements for conical flasks, round-bottom flasks and flat-bottom flasks made from borosilicate glass 3.3 with nominal volumes 10 ml to 20 000 ml. The necks of the flasks have a conical ground joint according to DIN 12242-1, so that other glass devices, for example coolers, distillation bridges or dropping funnels, can be put on in a liquid-tight manner. The standard has been adopted by CEN/TC 332 "Laboratory equipment" from the International Organization for Standardization ISO. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 48 "Laboratory equipment". All indicated committees are held by the German secretariat. The responsible German mirror committee is Working Committee NA 055-01-03 AA "Glasgeräte und Apparate" ("Glass devices and apparatus") DIN Standards Committee Laboratory Devices and Installations (FNLa). It played a leading role in the preparation of this document. The standard is intended to replace the older version of DIN EN ISO 4797 from 2005. The following changes have been made to this standard: a) Round-bottom flasks with nominal volumes of 3 l, 5 l and 20 l have been added. b) The overall height of some round-bottom flasks of Series 1 (Table 3) has been modified. c) Requirements for thermal shock endurances have been specified.
