Overview
This European Standard describes the principles of a good risk management applied on drinking water supply systems and is intended as a basis for risk-based and process-oriented management comprising risk identification, assessment and control as well as elements of the recommended approach aiming at the improvement of the integrity of the drinking water supply system. This European Standard addresses all entities and stakeholders sharing responsibility in the provision of safe drinking water throughout the entire supply chain from the source to the point of use. This European Standard incorporates the fundamental elements of the WHO Water Safety Plan approach. This standard deals exclusively with risk management which shall enable water supply systems to achieve their goals. The scope of this standard reaches beyond the pure water quality risks, however. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 119-06-04 AA "Dienstleistungen im Bereich der Trinkwasserversorgung und Abwasserentsorgung (ISO/TC 224)" ("Service activities relating to drinking water supply systems and wastewater systems (ISO/TC 224)") at DIN.
