Influence of metallic materials on water intended for human consumption - Dynamic rig test for assessment of metal release - Part 2: Test waters; German version EN 15664-2:2010
Einfluss metallischer Werkstoffe auf Wasser für den menschlichen Gebrauch - Dynamischer Prüfstandversuch für die Beurteilung der Abgabe von Metallen - Teil 2: Prüfwässer; Deutsche Fassung EN 15664-2:2010
Overview
Metallic materials are mainly used in service equipment in the field of water supply. The test method given in the DIN EN 15664 standard series is designed to provide information on metal release over time from metallic materials into drinking water. The test is based on a programme of alternating periods of through flow and stagnation in a rig realistically simulating the conditions in a domestic distribution system. This method is given preference over continuous through flow or immersion tests. This test method is applicable to all metallic materials. Part 2 of the DIN EN 15664 standard series describes the selection of test waters for the test method, which is used for the following purposes: - to assess a material for approval as a reference material for a category of materials; - to assess a material for approval by comparative testing; - to obtain data on the interaction of local water with a material. The standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 164/WG 3 "Effects of materials in contact with drinking water" (secretariat: NEN, Netherlands) under the responsibility of experts of Working Committee NA 119-04-14 AA "Werkstoffe und Bauteile in Kontakt mit Trinkwasser" ("Materials and components in contact with drinking water") of NAW.
