Characterization of solids - Sampling of solid and semi-solid materials - Part 3: Sampling from transport vehicles and of containers, as well as of big-bags
Abstract
Materials can be subject to different external effects during transportation, which lead to changes in the separation and volatilization, as well as differences in particle size, lumpiness and density. Therefore, the sampling should generally take place at the site where the material is produced, preferably from the moving mass flow according to DIN 19698-4 or as stockpile testing according to DIN 19698-1 or DIN 19698-2. However, if these dcouments cannot be applied, DIN 19698-3 applies to the sampling of solid and semisolid materials from the following transport and packaging units: - transport vehicles (e.g. trucks, railway wagons, barge/hood); - containers/skips; and - Big bags, barrels, drums and other containers. This document can be used in the context of conformity and control investigations. If this dcoument is applied within the framework of basic characterization, it has to be justified.
