Pumping stations - design, construction and operation

Abstract

This standard specifies the planning, construction and operation of pumping stations that ensure the permanent or temporary discharge from flowing or standing surface waters that temporarily or permanently lack a natural discharge. A distinction is made between permanent pumping stations and flood pumping stations. Permanent pumping stations convey the entire discharge from an area that has no natural receiving water. Floodwater pumping stations only pump during periods when the natural receiving water is insufficient. This standard does not apply to sewage pumping stations, sludge pumping stations, pumping stations for water extraction or supply and the like.
