Abstract

This part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 specifies the metrological and technical requirements for water meters for cold drinking water and hot water flowing through a completely filled closed pipe. These water meters are equipped with devices that indicate the cumulative volume. In addition to water meters based on mechanical operating principles, this part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 also applies to devices based on electrical or electronic operating principles and on mechanical operating principles with electronic devices used to measure the volume of cold drinking water and hot water. This part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 also applies to electronic auxiliary devices. Auxiliary devices are optional. However, some additional devices may be mandatory in national or international regulations with regard to the use of water meters.
