Belt conveyors for underground coal mining - Idlers - Part 2: Requirements
Gurtförderer für den Kohlenbergbau unter Tage - Tragrollen - Teil 2: Anforderungen
Overview
The idlers according to this standard are used in mining in conveyor belt systems equipped with both light and heavy constructions. Therewith, the range of application stretches from the longwall mining points with rough environmental conditions over the transportation of persons with safety and comfort requirements to the high speed transportation in main haulage roads and inclined haulage shafts. Idler sizes, wall thicknesses of the idler casing and bearing dimensions determined through many years of practical experience have been added during this revision by changing specifications for lubrication and installation position of the idlers. Herewith it shall be ensured that the idlers do not become prematurely unusable through wear or failure of individual components, although the rest of the idler is still certainly completely usable. Next to economic considerations, the operational safety of the idlers in the area of underground mining plays an important role, since a blocked idler can, in connection with the conveyor belt which is kept in constant motion by immense driving powers and flammable materials available practically everywhere, create a fire. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-05-04 AA "Gurtförderer-Traggerüste" ("Belt conveyor constructions") at the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG).
