General principles for the safe design of products
Allgemeine Leitsätze für das sicherheitsgerechte Gestalten von Produkten
Overview
DIN 31000 (VDE 1000) sets out general principles for the safe design of products in accordance with the relevant legal and administrative regulations and defines basic safety requirements that apply to all types of electrical equipment. This new edition establishes the link between the new edition of ISO/IEC Guide 51 published in April 2014 and its national equivalent DIN 820-12. In addition, the definitions of "product" and "consumer product" are adapted to the definitions used in the Product Safety Act of 2011. The term "technical work equipment", which is no longer used in this law, has been deleted without replacement. The bibliographies have been updated and supplemented. This document has been prepared by Joint Working Committee "Allgemeine Grundsätze und Terminologie" ("General principles and terminology") (NA 095-01-01 GA) of DIN Standards Committee Safety Design Principles (NASG) with DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM) and DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies at DIN and VDE.
