Overview
This standard incorporates the text of Amendment 2:2015-04 to IEC 60335-2-58:2002 (= EN 60335-2-58:2005/A2:2015) and the text of EN 60335-2-58:2005/A12:2016-01. The aging test of elastomeric parts (Annex BB), the requirements for prevention of backsiphonage (Annex CC) and Annex ZAA "Noise emissions" are replaced by new texts. In addition, EN 60335-2-58:2005 is adapted to the essential requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. This International Standard deals with the safety of electrically operated dishwashing machines for washing plates, dishes, glassware, cutlery and similar articles, with or without means for water heating or drying, not intended for household use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral and 480 V for other appliances. These machines are used for example in restaurants, canteens, hospitals, and commercial enterprises such as bakeries, butcheries, etcetera. Examples of such machines are: batch dishwashers and brush machines. Requirements to avoid backsiphonage of non-potable water into the water mains are specified in Annex CC. The electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy is also within the scope of this standard. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.1 "Wäschepflegegeräte und Geschirrspüler" ("Laundry machines and dishwashers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
