DIN EN 1127-2
Explosive atmospheres - Explosion prevention and protection - Part 2: Basic concepts and methodology for mining; German version EN 1127-2:2014
Explosionsfähige Atmosphären - Explosionsschutz - Teil 2: Grundlagen und Methodik in Bergwerken; Deutsche Fassung EN 1127-2:2014
Overview
The standard is a fundamental guideline for explosion prevention and protection against explosion impacts in underground mining through measures for the design and construction of equipment, protective systems and components. The dynamics of the mining extraction process as well as the fact that the miner and his machinery shall move in a potentially explosive atmosphere constitute a fundamental difference compared to the open-cast industry. This standard specifies - as an essential distinguishing criterion - if the firedamp content in the respective mine structures is within or outside the explosion range. Depending on this, the requirements for the equipment of category M1 and M2 deployed in mining are specified. The national interests of this standard are represented by Working Committee "Explosionsschutz" ("Fire and Explosion Prevention and Protection") at the Standards Committee Mining (FABERG).
