Overview
This standard specifies safety signs used for the purposes of accident prevention, fire protection, protection from health hazards and emergency evacuation. The shape and colour of the safety signs are according to ISO 3864-1 and the design of the graphical symbols is according to ISO 3864-3. This standard is applicable to all locations and areas where safety issues related to people need to be addressed. It is not applicable to the signalling used for guiding rail, road, river, maritime and air traffic and, in general, to those sectors subject to a regulation which may differ with regard to certain points of this standard and of the standards of the ISO 3864 series. This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN ISO 7010:2012. The underlying International Standard ISO 7010:2011 has been prepared by ISO/TC 145/SC 2 "Graphical symbols - Safety identification, signs, shapes, symbols and colours". On the national level, the committee responsible for the processing is Joint Working Committee NA 095-01-06 GA "Sicherheitskennzeichnung" ("Safety identification") of the Safety Design Principles Standards Committee (NASG). In addition to the safety signs in this standard, DIN 4844-2 contains a selection of maritime safety signs from ISO 20712-1:2008 as well as national safety signs.
