DIN EN 14491
Dust explosion venting protective systems; German version EN 14491:2012

Title (German)

Schutzsysteme zur Druckentlastung von Staubexplosionen; Deutsche Fassung EN 14491:2012

Overview

This European Standard specifies the basic requirements for design and the selection of a dust explosion venting protective system. This standard is intended to replace DIN EN 14491:2007-08 and is directed at manufacturers of dust explosion venting protective systems and test facilities. This document deals in particular with aspects of process reliability and product safety and has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 94/9/EC of 23 March 1994 for Equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. This document is one of a series including DIN EN 14797, "Explosion venting Devices" and DIN EN 14460, "Explosion resistant equipment". The three standards together represent the concept of dust explosion venting. To avoid transfer of explosions to other communicating equipment, one should also consider and apply DIN EN 15089 "Explosion isolation systems". The committee responsible for this standard is NA 095-02-01 AA "Explosionsschutzeinrichtungen (außer Flammendurchschlagsicherungen)" ("Devices for explosion prevention and protection (except flame arresters)") at DIN.
