Overview
This standard applies for emergency equipment in emergency medicine. The purpose of these specifications is to provide the personnel working in emergency medicine, especially emergency doctors, with basic equipment for first care of emergency patients at the place of accident. The content of the emergency equipment is basically designed for first care of an emergency patient, whereby it is assumed that further materials will be available within approximately 15 minutes. The emergency equipment may be stored in one or more cases. Accommodation in bags or rucksacks of comparable stability and quality is possible. The emergency equipment is divided into the following items: Part A Basic Part B Adults Part C Children Part A describes all medical items of equipment which belong to the basis of emergency equipment. Part B describes all items of equipment necessary for diagnostics and care of adult emergency patients. Part C describes all items of equipment necessary for care of emergencies of infants or children. Emergency equipment consists of either Part A or B (emergency equipment for adults), or Part A and C (emergency equipment for children), or Part A, B and C (emergency equipment for children and adults). The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 063-01-06 AA "Verbandmittel und Behältnisse" ("Surgical dressings and containers") at DIN.
