DIN 14751-4
Hydraulically operated rescue apparatus for fire brigade use - Part 4: Double acting hydraulic rescue tools with integrated pump and/or power source

Title (German)

Hydraulisch betätigte Rettungsgeräte für die Feuerwehr - Teil 4: Doppelt wirkende hydraulische Rettungsgeräte mit integrierter Pumpe und/oder Energiequelle

Overview

The standard specifies safety and minimum performance requirements as well as the test of double acting hydraulic rescue tools with integrated pump and/or power source for the fire brigade and rescue services. Hydraulic rescue tools are apparatus which are fundamentally used by the fire brigade and rescue services for severing, spreading or pulling apart parts of power driven vehicles, rail vehicles and aircraft involved in accidents with the purpose of freeing accident victims or to make working space for medical rescue services as quickly as possible. Hydraulic rescue tools with integrated pump and/or power source find application primarily where space and weight considerations and aspects of power supply shall be given priority with respect to performance. The revision of DIN 14751-4:2002-02 became necessary in order to adapt the content mainly editorially regarding the references to clauses in the current standard edition of the generic standard DIN EN 13204. Technical modifications were only necessary in a few cases because the content of the standard mostly corresponded with the current state of the art. In the previous edition DIN 14751-4:2002-02, clauses from the former draft standard E DIN EN 13204:1998-06, the standard of which was published in March 2005, were frequently referred to; the standard contains, however, amended clause numbering with respect to the draft standard. With the mainly editorially revised new edition of DIN 14751-4 the users of the standard shall be saved from having to individually search for and note the amended clause numbers in DIN EN 13204. The following amendments have been made with respect to DIN 14751-4:2002-02: a) the content of the standard has been editorially revised; b) the term "Schnellwechselenergiespeicher" ("quick-change energy storage device") has been incorporated; c) the range of tolerance of the permissible pressure setting for the overpressure valve of integrated pumps has been modified; d) axial minimum traction of electric couplings has been incorporated; e) the power required for operating a manually operated primary drive has been increased to 350 N; f) residual energy has been replaced by reserve energy, this means, a quick-change energy storage device has been enabled; g) for energy content of integrated energy storage devices, the additional use of a maximum of two energy storage devices has been enabled; h) the normative references have been updated and thereby DIN 3171-1, DIN 3171-2, DIN EN 292-1, DIN EN 292-2, DIN EN 414, DIN EN 563, DIN EN 1050, DIN EN 10027-1, DIN EN 50081-1 have been deleted, and DIN EN 61000-6-3, DIN EN ISO 12100-1, DIN EN ISO 12100-2, DIN EN ISO 13732-1 and DIN EN ISO 14121-1 have been incorporated. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-10 AA "Rettungsgeräte - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 7" ("Rescue tools - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 7") at DIN.
