Qualification testing of welders - Fusion welding - Part 1: Steels (ISO 9606-1:2012, including Cor 1:2012); German version EN ISO 9606-1:2013
Prüfung von Schweißern - Schmelzschweißen - Teil 1: Stähle (ISO 9606-1:2012, einschließlich Cor 1:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 9606-1:2013
Overview
This document specifies the requirements for qualification testing of welders for fusion welding of steels. It provides a set of technical rules for a systematic qualification test of the welder, and enables such qualifications to be uniformly accepted independently of the type of product, location and examiner or examining body. This standard differs from DIN EN 287-1:2011-11 as follows: a) qualification is now based on the filler material and not, as previously, on the parent material; b) the range of qualification has been revised; c) test piece dimensions have been changed; d) an additional test piece has been included; e) new revalidation methods have been added and the period of validity has been changed. The International Standard ISO 9606-1:2012 has been prepared by ISO/TC 44/SC 11 "Qualification requirements for welding and allied processes personnel" (secretariat: SUTN, Slovakia) and has been identically adopted as a European Standard by CEN/TC 121 "Welding" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German standardization committee is Joint Working Committee NA 092-00-02 AA "Qualifizierung von Personal für das Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren (DVS AG Q 2)" ("Qualification requirements for welding and allied processes personnel (DVS AG Q 2)") at the Welding and allied processes Standards Committee (NAS).
