Overview
This European/International Standard specifies the sizes of test specimen and the procedures for carrying out fracture tests in order to obtain information about types, sizes and distribution of internal imperfections such as porosities, cracks, lack of fusion, lack of penetration and solid inclusions on the fracture surface. It has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 44/SC 5 "Testing and inspection of welds" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) and has been adopted without alteration as European Standard by Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 "Welding and allied processes" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German committee is Joint Working Committee NA 092-00-05 GA "NAS/NMP: Zerstörende Prüfung von Schweißverbindungen (DVS AG Q4)" ("NAS/NMP: Destructive testing of welds (DVS AG Q4)") at the Welding and allied processes Standards Committee (NAS) at DIN. In comparison with DIN EN 1320:1996-12, the normative references (clause 2) and the symbols and abbreviated terms in Table 1 have been updated. There were no modifications regarding the contents.
