Overview
A numeric classification for welding, cutting, gouging, brazing, soldering and braze welding processes is specified in this standard. Each process is identified by a reference number. The standard covers the main groups of processes (one digit), groups (two digits) and sub-groups (three digits). The reference number for any process has a maximum of three digits. This system is intended as an aid in computerization, drawings, the drafting of working papers, welding procedure, etcetera. With respect to the previous edition, the list of processes and reference numbers has been thoroughly revised and extended, obsolete processes were deleted. The text of ISO 4063:2009, corrected version 2010-03-01 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 44 "Welding and allied processes", in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 "Welding" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German Committee is NA 092-00-06 AA "Darstellung und Begriffe (DVS AG I 4)" ("Representation and terms (DVS AG I 4)") of the Welding Standards Committee (NAS).
