Schweißzusätze - Massivdrahtelektroden, Fülldrahtelektroden und Draht-Pulver-Kombinationen zum Unterpulverschweißen von unlegierten Stählen und Feinkornstählen - Einteilung (ISO 14171:2010); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 14171:2010
Overview
This International Standard specifies requirements for the classification of electrode/flux combinations and weld metal in the as-welded condition and in the post-weld heat-treated condition for submerged arc welding of non alloy and fine grain steels with a minimum yield strength of up to 500 MPa or a minimum tensile strength of up to 570 MPa. One flux can be classified with different solid wire electrodes and tubular cored electrodes. The solid wire electrode is also classified separately based on chemical composition. Fluxes for the single-run and two-run techniques are classified on the basis of the two-run technique. This standard has been prepared by applying the co-habitation principle, that means, two approaches, which are subdivided into A and B, are specified for the same subject to be standardized. Approach A mainly reflects the European specifications; approach B mainly reflects the specifications in the Pacific Rim. The implementation of the co-habitation principle is one of the essential requirements with respect to the previous standard DIN EN 756:2004-06. In addition, specifications for the diffusible hydrogen content of the weld metal, amongst others, have been introduced two other solid wire electrodes have been added and requirements for a retest have been specified. The International Standard ISO 14171:2010, on which this standard is based, has been prepared by ISO/TC 44/SC 3 "Welding consumables" (secretariat: ANSI, USA), in collaboration with CEN/TC 121 "Welding consumables" (secretariat: DIN). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 092-00-03 AA "Schweißzusätze (DVS AG W 5)" ("Welding consumables (DVS AG W 5)") of NAS.
