Image quality assurance in diagnostic X-ray departments - Part 152: RöV acceptance test of X-ray installations for screen/film mammography
Sicherung der Bildqualität in röntgendiagnostischen Betrieben - Teil 152: Abnahmeprüfung nach RöV an Röntgeneinrichtungen für Film-Folien-Mammographie
Overview
The standard applies for the procedure of the acceptance tests in accordance with § 16 of the Röntgenverordnung (German X-ray Ordinance) (RöV) on mammography installations. It is applicable for installations with image recording by screen/ film systems. The standard does not apply for mammographic stereotactic devices and special biopsy accessories. The standard replaces the preliminary standard DIN V 6868-152:2005-02 and partly replaces the draft standard DIN 6868-152:2011-01 provided it concerns specifications on the acceptance test of X-ray installations for screen/film mammography. With respect to the preliminary standard DIN V 6868-152, the requirements for the contrast and local resolution, chest wall sided image boundary, half-value layer and the test of the X-ray tube voltage have been modified. In the new edition the test criterions entrance dose, nominal dose, focal spot diameter, dose rate, linearity, attenuation factor and smallest current time product has been waived. Measurement of the entrance dose has been replaced by measurement of the glandular dose. The standard contains image quality assuring specifications according to the German X-ray Ordinance (RöV) of 8 January 1987 in the version of the publication of 30 April 2003, requirements according to § 16 and serves in connection with the Sachverständigen-Prüfrichtlinie (QS-RL) (testing guidelines for experts) and the Qualitätssicherungsrichtlinie (QS-RL) (quality assurance guidelines) for the fulfilment of national requirements in radiation protection. The requirements of the standard correspond with those of the fourth edition of the European Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 080-00-06 AA "Bildgebende Systeme" ("Imaging systems") of the Radiology Standards Committee (NAR).
