Overview
This standard deals with the characterization of radiological images with digital data which refer to the operating body, the patient and the examination, and which are required or recommended for identification of a digital imaging record, in particular for forwarding of radiological images to referring or reporting physicians and medical authorities. The transmitted data are intended for comprehension of the radiological report, interpretation, submission and comparison for subsequent examinations or therapies, image or data evaluation, including aspects regarding dosage, quality assurance. The following items are specified: structuring data for quick findability, data required and recommended for forwarding of radiological images. At least the data deemed necessary may be displayed by a viewer which is intended for display of the transmitted radiological images. A display option for all listed data structured in accordance with this standard is recommended. The standard has been prepared by NA 080-00-04 AA "Informationsverarbeitung" ("Information processing") of the Radiology Standards Committee.
