Road construction machines - Mixing plants for road construction materials - Safety requirements; German version EN 536:2015

Title (German)

Straßenbaumaschinen - Mischanlagen für Materialien zum Straßenbau - Sicherheitsanforderungen; Deutsche Fassung EN 536:2015

Overview

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard specifies the safety requirements applicable to stationary and relocatable mixing plants for the production of materials (for example hot-mix asphalt, cold-mix asphalt, cement gravel) used for the construction and maintenance of traffic routes (roads, highways, sidewalks, airfields, etcetera) water retaining works, dam walls, culverts, etcetera. This European Standard applies to the following types of mixing plant: a) hot asphalt mixing plant; b) cold mixing plant (for example for the production of cement gravel, cold mix asphalt); c) mixing plant for bituminous or non-bituminous reclaimed materials; d) mixing plant for mastic asphalt, also including natural asphalt. Machines moving during the working process (for example, mobile mastic asphalt mixers) and crushers are not covered by this European Standard. Those types of asphalt mixing plants can also be combined or enlarged by additional installations (for example, plant for storage of binders (for example bituminous, synthetic, vegetal). This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to mixing plants, when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4). This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. This European Standard does not apply to machines for the production of cement concrete and mortar as covered in EN 12151. This European Standard does not deal with hazards caused by flammable gases. As soon as information is available it will be included. This European Standard applies mainly to machinery manufactured after the date of approval of this standard by CEN. This standard contains the German version of EN 536:2015, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This standard differs from DIN EN 536:1999-10 and DIN EN 536:2013-05 as follows: a) the standard has been fundamentally revised; b) Clause 2 "Normative references" has been updated; c) the structure of the standard has been changed; d) Annex ZA (informative) "Relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC" has been included. The national interests during the preparation of the standard are represented by Committee NA 060-13-05 AA "Straßenbaumaschinen" ("Road construction machines") of Technical Section "Construction equipment and building material machines" of DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of the manufacturers and users of road construction machines as well as the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
