Safety of woodworking machines - Circular sawing machines - Part 13: Horizontal beam panel sawing machines; German version EN 1870-13:2007+A2:2012
Sicherheit von Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen - Kreissägemaschinen - Teil 13: Horizontale Plattenkreissägemaschinen mit Druckbalken; Deutsche Fassung EN 1870-13:2007+A2:2012
Overview
This European Standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called "presumption of conformity"). The requirements of this document are directed at manufacturers and their authorised representatives of horizontal beam panel sawing machines. They are also useful for designers. This European Standard also includes guidance to be provided by the manufacturer to the user. Common safety requirements for tooling are given in EN 847-1:2005+A1:2007. This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events as listed in clause 4 which are relevant to horizontal beam panel sawing machines and if they are used as intended and under the conditions reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. The machines are designed for cutting panels consisting of: - wood based materials such as chipboard, fibreboard, plywood and also these materials where they are covered with plastic/light alloy laminates which can be cut easily; - solid wood; - hardened rubber and hardened plastic material; - non-ferrous materials, for example light alloy; - gypsum boards, gypsum bounded fibreboards; - composite boards made from the afore-mentioned materials. This document does not deal with specific hazards related to: - specific features which differ from the list above; - the machining of panels with grooving tools; - mechanical unloading of panels; - the combination of a single machine being used with any other machine (as part of a line). This document is not applicable to horizontal beam panel sawing machines which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN. Machines covered by this document if manually loaded and / or unloaded are listed under 1.4 of Annex IV of the Machinery Directive. The previous standard DIN EN 1870-13:2010-05 has been revised. The following substantial changes have been made: - normative references have been updated to new editions of the cited standards; - in 5.1 "Controls" the design requirements for control circuits in certain categories have been replaced by specifications for performance levels; - informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 98/37/EC has been deleted; - the former informative Annex ZB on the relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC is now Annex ZA. This standard contains the German version of EN 1870-13:2007+A1:2009+A2:2012, drawn up by Technical Committee CEN/TC 142 "Woodworking machines - Safety" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation were represented by Working Committee NA 060-06-01 AA "Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen - Sicherheit" ("Woodworking machines - Safety") at Technical Section "Woodworking machines" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of horizontal beam panel sawing machines, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
