DIN ISO 487
Steel roller chains, types S and C, attachments and sprockets (ISO 487:1998)
Stahlrollenketten, Typ S und C, Anbauteile und Kettenräder (ISO 487:1998)
Overview
This standard is a translation of DIN ISO 487 of the third edition of ISO 487 dated 1998, closing a gap in the collection of German standards which had resulted from the withdrawal in 2003 of DIN 8189-1 and -2 and DIN 8199 on roller chains for agricultural machinery. The standard describes the characteristics of a range of steel roller chains, dimensionally derived from the malleable iron type and suitable for the conditions of operation and maintenance prevailing in such fields as agriculture, building, quarrying and related industry, mechanical handling, etcetera, and of associated chain sprockets. The translation of ISO 487 and as a result the adoption into the German body of standards has been decided by Working Committee NA 060-34-35 AA "Stahlgelenkketten" ("Steel link chains") of Technical Section Antriebstechnik (Power transmission engineering) of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee. The International Standard ISO 487 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 100 "Chains and chain wheels for power transmission and conveyors". The national interests during the preparation of the standard are represented by Committee NA 060-34-35 AA "Stahlgelenkketten" ("Steel link chains") of Technical section "Antriebstechnik" ("Power transmission engineering") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the manufacturers and users of steel link chains are involved in the preparation of the standard.
