DIN EN ISO 11148-12
Hand-held non-electric power tools - Safety requirements - Part 12: Circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws (ISO 11148-12:2012); German version EN ISO 11148-12:2012
Handgehaltene nicht elektrisch betriebene Maschinen - Sicherheitsanforderungen - Teil 12: Kleine Kreis-, oszillierende und Stichsägen (ISO 11148-12:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 11148-12:2012
Overview
This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent to facilitate proof of compliance with those requirements. This part of ISO 11148 applies for hand-held non-electric power tools (hereinafter "circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws") intended for sawing. The circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws can be powered by compressed air, hydraulic fluid or internal combustion engines and are intended to be used by one operator and supported by the operator's hand or hands, with or without a suspension, for example, a balancer. At the time of publication of this standard no circular, oscillating or reciprocating saws driven by internal combustion engines are known [other than circular saws with bonded abrasives and/or super abrasives (diamond) cut-off wheels]. Once these are identified, it is intended to amend this part of ISO 11148 to include such power tools. This document deals with the following machines: - circular saws; - circular knives; - oscillating saws having a saw blade with a radius of 50 mm or less or a (diamond) cutting-off wheels with a radius of 100 mm or less; - oscillating knives (including windshield knives); - reciprocating saws, including jig saws and power hack saws. For examples of circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws, see Annex B. For circular saws with bonded-abrasive and/or super-abrasive (diamond) cutting-off wheels, see Part 7 of this series and ISO 19432. This document is not applicable to: special requirements and modifications of circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws for the purpose of mounting them in fixtures. This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant to circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer, with the exception of the use of circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws in potentially explosive atmospheres. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 11148-12:2012 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 118 "Compressors and pneumatic tools, machines and equipment", in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 255 "Hand-held tools" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This standard differs from DIN EN 792-12:2009-12 as follows: a) ISO standard has been adopted; b) technical requirements of ANSI B.186.1 and references to EN ISO 12100 have been incorporated; c) vibration total values and their uncertainties shall be declared; d) technical requirements have been mainly brought in line with EN 60745 (and IEC 60745); e) user instructions shall include further and more detailed safety instructions. The national interests during the preparation are represented by NA 060-08-13 AA "Druckluftwerkzeuge und -maschinen" ("Pneumatic tools and machines") at Technical Section "Kompressoren und Vakuumtechnik" ("Compressors and vacuum technology") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of compressors and compressed air technique, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
