DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering

Overview

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This standard applies for: - filling machines with cylinder and piston; - filling machines with feed intake hopper, feeder and loading device; - auxiliary machines for filling machines. It does not apply to filling machines with cylinder and manual operation. This standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to machines, appliances and machinery, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer and also the reasonable foreseeable misuse. This document is not applicable to filling machines and auxiliary machines which were manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN. Filling machines described in this document are not forming, filling and sealing machines as described in EN 415-3. Clipping machines are not covered by this standard. This standard contains the German version of EN 12463:2004+A1:2011, which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 153 "Machinery intended for use with foodstuffs and feed" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This standard differs from DIN EN 12463:2005-01 as follows: - editorial alignment of the introduction and scope with the requirements of the new Machinery Directive; - update of the normative references in clause 2 and references in the entire document; - addition of requirements of the Machinery Directive for fixing systems for fixed guards; - inclusion of a performance level in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 for safety related parts of the control system; - addition of further information relating to operating instructions and marking; - revision of the normative clause on the declaration and verification of the noise emission values; - replacement of the former informative Annex ZA to Directive 98/37/EC by a new informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Committee NA 060-18-02 AA "Fleischverarbeitungsmaschinen" ("Meat processing machinery") at Technical Section "Food Processing Machinery" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the manufacturers and users of filling machines and auxiliary machines, as well as of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of this standard.
