DIN EN 618
Continuous handling equipment and systems - Safety and EMC requirements for equipment for mechanical handling of bulk materials except fixed belt conveyors; German version EN 618:2002+A1:2010
Stetigförderer und Systeme - Sicherheits- und EMV-Anforderungen an mechanische Fördereinrichtungen für Schüttgut ausgenommen ortsfeste Gurtförderer; Deutsche Fassung EN 618:2002+A1:2010
Overview
This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This standard deals with the technical requirements to minimise the hazards. These hazards can arise during operation and maintenance of mechanical handling equipment which are designed for continuously conveying bulk materials from the loading point(s) to the unloading point(s). In general, it also applies to equipment which are built into machines or attached to machines. This standard deals with the technical requirements for electromagnetic compatibility. This standard contains the German version of EN 618:2002+A1:2010, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 148 "Continuous handling equipment and systems - Safety" of the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 618:2002-08: a) The standard has been modified and adapted with respect to the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. b) Annex ZA has been modified with respect to the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. c) Annex ZB has been modified with respect to the new Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC. The national interests during the preparation of the standard are represented by Committee NA 060-22-31 AA "Stetigförderer" ("Continuous handling equipment") of Technical Section "Material handling" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of continuous handling equipment as well as representatives of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of the standard.
