DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering

Overview

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This standard deals with power operated temporarily installed builders hoists (hereinafter referred to as "hoists") intended for use by persons who are permitted to enter sites of engineering and construction. This standard covers the entire hoist system. It includes the base frame and the base protection, but it does not cover any concrete, hard core, timber or other foundation arrangement, however. It includes the design of ties, but it does not deal with the anchorage parts to the building, however.
