Overview
This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This document covers cube cutting machines and accessories. This European Standard specifies requirements for the design and manufacture of cube cutting machines. The machines covered by this standard are used to size reduce fresh meat, meat products and products of the same kind by cutting in a cutting unit. This standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to machines, appliances and machinery, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4). This standard deals with the hazards which can arise during commissioning, operation, maintenance and de-commissioning of the machines. This document is not applicable to cube cutting machines which were manufactured before this document was published by CEN.
